She scored 16 of those 23 in the final quarter to help her team rally from a 32-25 second-half deficit, according to Canton Coach Brian Samulski.
Canton started the game on a 7-0 run and boosted the lead to 11-3 in the first.A resilient Marian team battled back and closed the gap to 19-18 by the end of the half.
Marian overtook the lead in the third by as much as seven, 32-25, Samulski said.
Canton tightened up its defense and got its offense back on track, bringing them within one, 34-33, to start the final quarter. In the final frame Canton, led by Houdek’s 13 points, outscored the Mustangs, 22-5, for the win. Senior Ja’nee Morton added six points in the fourth-quarter melee. She finished with 15 on the night.
