Lady Vikes rout Southwestern, 50-27

Losing was not a prospect for the Inkster Lady Vikings in their home opener against the Detroit Southwestern Prospectors.

Brittany Scales and Lonnie Terrell combined for 43 points in Inkster’s 50-27 victory last Wednesday night.

Inkster Coach Peggy Carr said Scales and Terrell—both seniors—would have to step up this season for the Lady Vikes to win. They appeared to do just that. Scales led the team with 22 and Terrell knocked down 21.

“Brittany played well all the way through and Lonnie came on strong at the end,” Carr said.

“The girls played with confidence and didn’t seem nervous and followed the game plan, which was good. I was wondering how they would do in a game situation.”

Inkster carried a 12-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. The offense outscored Southwestern, 15-10 in the second for a 27-13 lead at the halfway mark. After 24 minutes, Inkster led 43-18. The Prospectors outscored Inkster’s bench, 9-7, in the fourth for a 50-27 finish.
