Jason Malloy, president, founder and director of the Next Level football instructs a participant at last year’s event.

Ready for the Next Level?

Former Inkster resident and Dearborn Heights Robichaud football standout Jason Malloy hopes so. He will host his 4th Annual Next Level Football Camp next week, giving participants an opportunity to improve at all levels of their gridiron game.

Malloy, who spent his college years as a leading Bronco at Western Michigan University, now lives in Canton, teaches in Ypsilanti and is the special teams coordinator and running back coach at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School.

His Next Level camp is directed toward high school athletes. The camp provides young athletes the opportunity to develop fundamental football skills in a well-supervised, organized and enthusiastic environment, he said. The camp operates under the simple philosophy of giving each participant the finest instruction possible from a qualified staff in a fun atmosphere, according to Malloy.

We’re excited,” he added. “This is a great opportunity for kids from all different cities to get together and develop their skills. I’m trying to use this as tool to help get kids recruited.”

To do that he has invited coaches from Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and JUCO colleges and universities to attend the event.

Areas of concentration include flexibility, running form and sprint technique.

“Our qualified staff will help each camper gain the maximum potential in his running ability,” Malloy said. “Many campers will experience a notable increase in speed and flexibility after attending the camp.”

Malloy’s long-time friend, former NFL, University of Michigan and Robichaud running back Tyrone Wheatley—also the new head football coach at Robichaud—will lend his skills to the camp as a coach and inspirational speaker.

Next Level is a non-contact camp so no helmets or pads are necessary but football cleats, gym shoes and mouth guard are required.

The camp will take place at Robichaud High School from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., July 20-21, rain or shine.

The cost is $50 (cash or money order only—no personal checks). Included in the fee is a continental breakfast and lunch each day of camp.

The last day for registration is Monday, July 9 and can be done in person from 4-7:30 p.m. in front of Dearborn Heights Robichaud High School, located at 3601 Janet Ave. in Dearborn Heights, 48125.

Register by mail: ATT: Jason A. Malloy (Next Level Camp), P.O. BOX 1034, Garden City, MI 48134.

“This is special to me; to be back home (at Robichaud) and to give back,” Malloy said. “It’s all about helping the kids.”

Late registration is from 2-3:30 pm on Monday, July 16 in front of Dearborn Heights Robichaud High School.
