Photos by Ken Garner ![]() Warning to shortcut seekers: don’t use Lotz Road in Canton to get from Cherry Hill to Ford. The unpaved stretch of the street was deemed impassable Wednesday by Wayne County road officials. Tuesday’s temps in the 70s set off this mess, which became apparent when a grader brought in to smooth over the dirt road got stuck in the mud. The road is open to local traffic only, and township officials advise caution when using other gravel roads. Lotz should open back up when the ground either dries or re-freezes, said Canton engineer Tom Casari. UPDATE: Add Mott Road to the list. The street is shut down from Denton Road west to the county line. Lotz remains closed as of Friday afternoon, too. Heavy vehicles like school buses and large trucks are still advised to stay off any gravel road until conditions improve. |
