Wal-Mart in the works

There may a big box store on the southwest corner of Michigan Avenue and Belleville Road in Canton after all.

Wal-Mart has submitted plans to Canton Township to put one of its Supercenter stores there. On Monday, the planning commission will formally refer the plans to staff for review. (The complete agenda for the commission meeting is available here.) Take note, the plans won’t be shown or discussed Monday, just referred to staff. A detailed examination by the commission could take place later this month or in June.

Wal-Mart became interested in the site earlier this year after Costco scrapped plans for a store there.

The retailer already has a location in Canton, on Ford Road east of I-275.
