Friday, June 15, 2007 | 3:09 PMLiberty Fest: A chance to be seenFiled under: events, groups, libertyfest Of course there’s the cotton candy, fair rides, arts and crafts and music. Liberty Fest also gives community groups in Canton a chance to get a little face time. While the Fest folks were setting up today, I stopped to talk to Babar Bhutta from the Muslim Community of Western Suburbs. The MCWS first set up a Liberty Fest booth last year, and Bhutta said the display was well-received. “We try to introduce what’s the true Islam and try to remove the misunderstanding among the people,” he said. “A lot of people come to know about Islam and they become good friends of ours, and we come to know each other very well.” Are you going to the Liberty Fest? Feel free to comment with your impressions of this year’s event. |
