Old Friends help ‘Beat the Bulldozer’
Jerry Connely will do his impersonations of Buddy Holly and Gene Pitney at the Beat the Bulldozer concert series at the Historic Wayne Theater on Saturday. Old Friends Four will also perform. The concerts start at 6 p.m. on the lawn of the theater. Tickets are $10. The benefits from the concerts will help save the historic landmark from demolition.
The theater is also collecting single dollar bills in hopes to set a new world record for singles donated to a fundraiser. They can be mailed to 35164 Michigan Ave., Wayne 48184.
Concert series continues
The free concert series at Goudy Park continues at 7:30 tonight with the Vogues. As always, the concerts serve as a drop off point for the Pop 4 Play fundraiser, where residents can donate their returnable cans and plastic bottles to generate funds for the Boundless Playground project that will be developed at Soroptimist Park.
The theme of the concert is the Wayne Chamber Sidewalk Sale Night. The chamber will host a business expo in the park with several Wayne businesses taking part.
Youth theater performs
The Stage IV Youth Theater group will put on their summer show next weekend. The show is the culmination of a four-week-long summer camp that started on July 14. The show is titled: The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ring. Performances will take place at 8 p.m. on Aug. 3-4 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens. For more information, call the parks and recreation department at (734) 721-7400.
