Volunteers turn out for ‘Friends’ project’

About 40 volunteers showed up for the annual Friends: People Helping People project in Wayne.Ed McMurray, chair of the Friends, People Helping People project, said he was pleased with the turnout the event had on Saturday.
“We had about 40 volunteers,” he said. “It was a good day.”
Using donated supplies, the volunteers spruced up a home on Winslow Street. They provided a fresh coat of paint, cleared away overgrown landscaping and performed minor maintenance on the home.

“We couldn’t do it without all of the help we get from the community,” said Susan Sweet-McMahon, housing rehabilitation specialist for the city of Wayne. “It’s a lot of work.”
