CVS pledges more support for park

A popular drug store chain is showing support for the community in more ways than one.

Employees of the CVS Drug Store chain packed the Wayne Senior Activity Center recently to provide some good news and pledge some additional support in the future, according to Kim Alexander, director of Wayne Parks and Recreation.

The drug store chain donated $40,000 toward the construction of the Boundless Playground that will be constructed next spring in Soroptomist Park, she said.

The employees also pledged to generate another $50,000 in donations and bring at least 100 employees to the community build scheduled next year.

“They’ve really embraced this community,” Alexander said.

The $40,000 grant will come from the All Kids Can program sponsored by the company. Wayne was one of seven communities in the U.S. to receive the full $40,000, she added.
The additional donations will come from other fundraisers, she said.

The store has also volunteered to partner with upcoming parks and recreation fundraisers, too.

“It shows you some businesses do care about the community where they do business,” said Wayne Mayor Al Haidous.
