Friends of Westland Historical Museum plan flea market next week

Bargain hunters searching for their next treasure may find what they’re looking for at Perrinsville School in Westland next week.

The one-room schoolhouse, which dates back to 1856, will come life on July 22 when the grounds become the site of the Third Annual Friends of the Westland Historical Museum Flea Market. The school is located on Warren Road about one-quarter mile west of Merriman Road. The flea market will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.

The Friends of the Museum and their supporters donated many of the items for sale. Donated items include everything from a set of etched cranberry glass stemware to a brand new purse with tags. It will also feature furniture, table lamps, tools, dolls, toys, art, and more, she said.

There is one new aspect to the sale this year as the Friends of the Museum opened the sale to independent sellers. Designed as an additional fundraiser for the museum, individuals can rent a 12-foot by 12-foot space at the sale for $15 to sell some of their own goods. Sellers will need to provide their own tables.

All proceeds from the sale, including space rentals and Friends of the Museum items sold, will be used to repair the foundation of the 1850s farmhouse that serves as the Westland Historical Museum.

The Friends of the Museum will also accept donations of goods for inclusion in the sale from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday at the Westland Historical Museum.
