Singing the blues

Despite the enthusiastic help of talented area musicians—including the band Sweet Claudette and Friends (pictured)—the G.I. Blues festival wasn’t able to garner as much public support as expected. Prior to the show, sponsors had anticipated 1,000 or more customers, but less than 300 people actually stopped in during the ongoing 12-hour concert series. The fundraiser took place Saturday at the Wayne Ford Civic League in Westland as a benefit for Veterans Haven of Wayne. The organization is devoted to the idea of ‘vets helping vets’ and aids American veterans who need assistance.
