Martha Reeves scheduled for Westland event

Motown is coming to Westland.

J.R.’s Bar and Grill on Palmer Road will host a meet and greet with legendary singer Martha Reeves on Sunday, according to bar owner Jerry Reid.

“She’s got a new CD coming out,” he said. “We were lucky enough to get her.”

The meet and greet will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, but Reid wants interested fans to show up early to give Reeves a warm—and loud welcome.

For $35, attendees will get a copy of the CD, Home To You, a drink ticket, food and be eligible for door prizes. Reeves will talk a bit about old Motown and sing some songs, too. There will be a dj on hand spinning Motown classics, as well.

Reid said he has brought in Detroit sports legends in the past and will do so for their next event when he brings in a favorite of Red Wings fans: the ‘Bruise Brothers’ Bob Probert and Joe Kosher.

There are a limited number of seats available for the Motown Review on Saturday, so Reid suggested people register ahead of time. The phone number is (734) 729-5555.

“It’ll be a fun Sunday afternoon,” he said.
